JIM CLEMES ASSOCIATES WINNER ICONIC AWARDS IN INNOVATIVE ARCHITECTURE CATEGORY FOR THE BAN DE GASPERICH WATER TOWER
In February 2013, Jim Clemes Associates was named the winner of the architecture competition launched by the City of Luxembourg. The jury was seduced by “the abstract, but functional, simple and elegant form that fits perfectly into the urban fabric. The new Ban de Gasperich water tower was an opportunity for Jim Clemes Associates to raise the issue of the aesthetic integration of technical works into the urban fabric. Often forgotten and pushed into their seclusion of purely technical work water towers have, in recent years, entered an aesthetic dimension and hence mark territories in which they fit. Moreover, the tower’s lace-like weaving is synonymous with the richness that the water tower contains and underlines the preciousness of water as an increasingly rare commodity.
The awards ceremony will take place in Munich on October 7, during the EXPO REAL trade fair.
